The True Fathers of Responsible Government

Without the contributions of Louis-Hippolyte LaFontaine and Robert Baldwin, the country of Canada and its government wouldn’t be the same. They took the initiative to continue the task that Lord Durham couldn’t complete after the Act of Union in order to create government that depended on the representation of people instead of a monarch. By all counts, and with proven results, the partnership of Louis-Hippolyte LaFontaine and Robert Baldwin shaped the way the Canadian government runs.
