In Search of Utopia, Expo 67's Vision

Expo 67 showed the importance of unity and its impact for the future. The fair’s logo was a circle made from the ancient symbol of man . The design, by Montréal artist Julien Hébert, represented a united humankind encircling the world . Former Prime minister, Lester B Pearson’s, opening remarks at the Expo perfectly explained the significance of the logo’s message. His remark was “how much every nation has to gain from cooperation and how much to lose in conflict.” This quote and purpose was showcased throughout the exhibition on varying degrees. Whether it be the involvement of 62 diverse countries or the 90 pavilions, it was evident to all 50.3 million attendees that none of the achievements would have possible without unification . Teaching that when we work together and respect the intelligence of everyone, we can build grand, inspiring, and impactful experiences such as Expo 67. The concept of unity, and its abilities, is exceedingly relevant in today's younger generation. It is used as a tool to power ambition in shaping the world. For example, the Women's March, which took place in January of 2017, empowered people everywhere . It sent an international message of strength and change. The impact would not have been possible without operating as a global unit. The strength of unity was envisioned once, now the power is known.
